Sake bottle tokkuri, noted. Japanese, Edo–Meiji period 19th century. Bizen ware. A bottle with a spherical belly and a narrow cylindrical neck; covered with brown glaze that in the upper belly and on the neck turns light coffee-colored and becomes spotted. Decorated on the belly with a branch of biwa Japanese medlar, fruits made with green-yellow glaze and inlaid with mother-of-pearl, leaves made using a sprinkling technique on black lacquer. Vessel; height 18 cm, diameter 11.8 cm., A rounded ceramic vase with a narrow neck sits against a neutral gray background. The vase surface is mottled brown with darker and lighter areas, and it features raised decorative elements including a few leaf shapes in dark green and olive tones and a winding branch in a reddish-brown. Several circular, glossy embellishments in pearly white and pale green are set along the branch, some showing subtle iridescence. The neck of the vase is a lighter, speckled brown while the lower body shows smoother, darker brown shading. The vase rests on a reflective surface that mirrors its shape faintly, and the overall color palette includes brown, dark green, olive, pale green, pearly white, and gray.
