Candlestick mash'al, Islamic art, Persian, Safavid dynasty 1501–1736. Candlestick in the form of a column standing upon a low, widening base; three sections separated by hachured rings. Just under the upper edge, a band of inscriptions in nast'alik script; beneath this, hunting scenes. Background filled with a dense tendril pattern. Base decorated with representations of huntsmen; upon its edge an inscription in Armenian characters of decorative value. Decoration: stylized plant ornament and a zigzag on the 10-faceted shaft, figures of riders at the base and in the upper part, stylized inscriptions: Persian and Armenian. 17th/18th century, Iran. Candlestick; height 28.0 cm, diameter 17.3 cm, weight 0.71 kg., A metallic object viewed from the front showing a flared rim and a cylindrical body, with a textured interior visible through the opening. The surface displays engraved or embossed decorative patterns, and there are visible ridged bands around the cylinder. The object appears in shades of dark brown, bronze, black, and hints of muted gold, set against a pale off-white background with a subtle reflection beneath.
