Candlestick mash'al, Islamic, Persian, Safavid dynasty 1501–1736. Candlestick in the form of a column standing upon a low, widening base, its three sections separated by hachured rings. Decoration: stylized plant ornament and a zigzag on the 10-faceted shaft; band of nast'aliq inscriptions just under the upper edge; hunting scenes beneath; background filled with a dense tendril pattern. Base decorated with representations of huntsmen; an inscription in Armenian characters on the base edge of decorative value., metalware, 17th–18th century, Iran. Dimensions: height 28.0 cm; diameter 17.3 cm; weight 0.71 kg., A tall cylindrical metal object with a flared round base sits against a plain light gray background; the surface shows intricate embossed and engraved decorative patterns covering most of the piece, with a few horizontal raised bands encircling the cylinder that are a slightly brighter yellowish metal; the overall color palette includes dark brown and bronze tones with areas of muted gold, and the base reflects slightly on the surface beneath it.
