Four-armed Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara Chaturbhuja, The bodhisattva is shown in one of his tantric forms called shadakshari. Single-headed, four-armed figure seated in meditative pose on a lotus throne. One pair of hands in namaskara mudra; the other holds a lotus flower and a rosary almost unpreserved apart from one element. Dressed in bodhisattva regalia: crown, earrings, necklace, inlaid bracelets on wrists and ankles, a sash flowing from shoulders to forearms, an antelope skin draped over the left shoulder, and a foot-long band with floral pattern around the lower body. A coiffed knot of hair atop his head is crowned by the head of Amitabha. The plaque closing the base is missing. Sculpture, 2nd half of the 18th century, China/Tibet Sino-Tibetan/Himalayan style and Chinese influence. Height 22.5 cm, width 14.5 cm, depth 9.5 cm. Materials: not specified., A gilded seated figure on a decorative base, rendered in gold tones with visible darker patina in places, wearing an ornate crown with floral motifs and elaborate earrings, a serene facial expression with closed eyes, multiple arms with hands held in various gestures including two hands clasped near the chest, draped garments and beaded necklaces, a flowing sash and detailed arm and wrist ornaments, the base showing carved petal-like patterns and border ornamentation, all set against a smooth gray background.
