Four-armed Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara Chaturbhuja, The Bodhisattva shown in one of his tantric forms called shadakshari. A single-headed, four-armed figure, seated in a meditative pose on a lotus throne. One pair of hands is in the namaskara mudra; the other holds attributes: a lotus flower and a rosary almost unpreserved, only one element remains. Dressed in typical bodhisattva regalia: a crown, earrings, necklace, inlaid bracelets on wrists and ankles, a sash flowing from shoulders to forearms, an antelope skin draped over the left shoulder, and a foot-long bandage with a floral pattern around the lower body. A coiffed knot of hair atop his head is crowned by the head of Amitabha. The plaque closing the base is missing. 2nd half of the 18th century. China/Tibet. Sculpture. Height 22.5 cm, width 14.5 cm, depth 9.5 cm., A gilded statue of a seated figure with a crown and multiple arms is shown against a neutral gray background; the figure sits on an ornate pedestal with carved floral and petal motifs, wearing flowing robes and layered jewelry including necklaces and arm ornaments, with hands held in various gestures and a calm facial expression; visible colors include gold tones on the statue and a gray background.
