Crossguard tsuba, maker: Tômei signed, unknown provenance; sword crossguard, Japanese, Edo period Bunka era, 1804–1818, dated 1809. Materials/description: tsuba round maru gata with rectangular edge kaku mimi; seppa-dai oval, ryôhitsu ana blinded with shakudo. Entire surface decorated on both sides in relief braided motif — herringbone on the obverse, squares on the reverse. Edge decorated with a delicate ornament of densely arranged spots. Function: katana tsuba. Dimensions: diameter 8.35 cm, thickness 0.4 cm., A round, flat metal object with a textured, woven pattern across its surface in brown and dark brown tones, showing areas of darker gray and black in recessed spots. The object has a raised rim with a slightly rough metallic edge in silvery gray. There are a few cutout shapes in the center revealing dark gray and black interiors, and the overall surface shows subtle variations of rust-like brown and muted orange hues. The background is a smooth gradient of light gray and pale gray.
