Crossguard tsuba, Tômei, sword crossguard from Japan, Edo period, Bunka era 1809. Tsuba round maru gata with rectangular edge kaku mimi; seppa-dai oval, ryôhitsu ana blinded with shakudo. Entire surface decorated on both sides in relief: braided motif—herringbone on the obverse, squares on the reverse. Edge decorated with a delicate ornament of densely arranged spots. Signed. Diameter 8.35 cm; thickness 0.4 cm., A round object with a woven textured surface in brown tones and a darker brown central oval opening, bordered by a thin rim that shows speckled silver wear, with two irregular silver-colored metal insets flanking the central opening, all set against a light grey background.
