Bowl, Japanese, Edo 1603–1868, late 17th century Edo period, Arita, porcelain Imari, vessel, height 12.0 cm, diameter 20.5 cm; decoration: floral pattern, figural scenes, peaches, dragonflies, crickets., A scalloped ceramic bowl with a pale off-white interior decorated with painted botanical motifs, featuring a central circular medallion containing a stylized fruit and leaves in orange, green, and dark blue, surrounded by a thin double ring in muted blue; the inner surface shows a spray of slender green and teal grasslike leaves and stems with orange flowers, and a curved arrangement of leafy branches in shades of green, teal, dark blue, and orange with small orange blossoms along the rim; the rim has a thin brownish edge and the background behind the bowl is a flat medium gray.
