Deity of Longevity Shouxing/Shoulao holds a long traveling staff and a peach of immortality; his robe is decorated with cloud motifs, lingzhi mushrooms, and cranes in medallions. At his feet stand a servant with a vessel, a deer, and a crane. Stone/ceramic sculpture with peaches, figurines, cranes, and animals; Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century, height 54.2 cm., A carved wooden figure viewed from the back showing a robed person standing on a faceted base, holding a gnarled staff in one hand; a smaller figure stands beside the larger figure and an animal with a curved neck is positioned near the base; the carving has a deep reddish-brown wood tone with darker brown areas and small lighter-colored decorative inlays or spots, and the background is a uniform pale gray.
