Censer with cover;, Bronze censer with two arched handles and convex cover with two offsets; decorated with elephants. Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 19th century. Height 21.1 cm; diameter 14.3 cm., A small lidded vessel with a rounded body and a stepped lid sits on a reflective surface, supported by a group of elephant-shaped legs facing outward; the vessel and lid are primarily dark brown to black with visible reddish-brown highlights on the lid, and there are worn gold-colored decorative patches on the body and on parts of the elephant legs; the elephants show sculpted trunks and ears and the overall scene includes reflections of the object on a pale gray background.
