Crossguard tsuba, Kaneie craftsman / school, 18th century Edo Period, 1603–1868, Japan; Fushimi, Yamashiro province. Oval tsuba tatemaru gata, rounded edge maru mimi; height 8.0 cm, width 7.4 cm, depth 0.4 cm. On both sides decorated in relief with landscape scenes and figures: obverse — a wanderer with two calabashes at his belt and a stick standing by a mountain stream; some details face, hands, bottles, binding inlaid with silver, gold, and copper; reverse — a fisherman in a boat by a bamboo-covered shore with minor accents inlaid with gold. Themes: landscape motifs, rocks, trees, bamboo, water, fishermen, boats, sea waves; function: sword crossguard katana tsuba., A flat round metal disc with a weathered, rusty brown surface and a slightly irregular edge, featuring a few elongated oval cutouts and a narrow horizontal slot; the metal shows patches of darker brown and faint hints of gold, and the background is a uniform soft gray.
