Cup, Persian, Qajar dynasty 1785–1925, 19th century, Iran. Ceramic vessel, height 25.5 cm, diameter 18.4 cm. Decoration: cartouches with a bust of a man, animals lions, birds, figures, flowers, geometric and small plant ornament; figurative motifs., An ornate goblet with a flared rim and a stemmed base, decorated with embossed gold figures and detailed enamel work in blue, green, red, white, black, and gold. The upper bowl shows a band of blue enamel with scrolling floral motifs and gold animal and humanlike medallion decorations, while the middle band has green enamel with gold floral and animal reliefs and a narrow red and white patterned border below. The stem area is wrapped with a gold ribbed collar above a section of red and white enamel ornamentation and a patterned black and white band, and the flared foot displays blue enamel with gold animal figures and additional black, white, and gold geometric borders. The interior of the bowl appears plain and light in color.
