Crossguard tsuba, Mino school, Japanese, Edo period 1603–1868, 18th century. Round tsuba maru gata with rounded edge maru mimi, ryohitsu ana holes plugged with shakudô alloy, copper sekigane. Decorated on both sides with dense, low-relief inlay of brass and silver forming an ornament of various flowers, including praying mantises, butterflies and dragonflies. Signed. Diameter 8.3 cm; thickness 0.3 cm., A round metal object with a dark brown surface decorated with a floral and insect motif in gold and silver tones, featuring a central elongated keyhole-shaped opening and a few irregular metal fittings in a copper color, with two oval dark gray insets flanking the opening and a background of gray around the object.
