Crossguard tsuba, Senryûsai, Yasumitsu; Ichiryû school; Hanabusa Itchô 1652–1724 — painting design. Tsuba in the shape of a rectangle with rounded corners nadegaku gata with an edge slightly raised above the surface uchi kaeshi. Decorated in low relief with figures of two immortals, Jittoku and Kanzan, reading a scroll; on the reverse a landscape with a golden sun disc emerging from behind clouds. Details and ornament of the characters' costumes executed with gold inlay using the nunome technique. Edo period 1603–1868, Japan Mito. Tsuba sword crossguard, height 8.7 cm, width 8.0 cm, depth 0.4 cm. Notes: Hanabusa Itchô's painting served as a model for the decoration; his work blends Kanô-school tendencies with ukiyo-e influences., A round, flat metal object with a dark brown, rusted surface and a patch of gold-colored decoration near its edge, featuring a few elongated and rounded cutouts in the center; the background is a smooth, uniform light gray.
