Mug, Mughal period, 19th century, North India probable. Silver mug densely decorated with plant and floral motifs in a horror vacui style. Large symmetrically extending lines on the side wall form shapes reminiscent of flower buds; upper and lower rims decorated with horizontal ornamental lines. Interior gilded and polished. Vessel, weight 190 g, height 12.8 cm, diameter 7.8 cm., A tall cylindrical metal vessel shown against a plain background with a detailed all-over engraved pattern of repeating floral and curvilinear motifs; the surface displays intricate interlacing designs with scalloped arch shapes and dense vine-like ornamentation, and there are decorative bands near the top and bottom edges; visible colors include silver, gray, and lighter highlights where the metal reflects light.
