Disc base with seven holes for glass sleeves glass oil containers missing. 19th–20th century, Damascus, Syria. Height 40 cm, diameter 32 cm, weight 2.4 kg., A hanging metal lantern suspended by a group of chains, with a hooked loop at the top and three chains descending to a decorative finial; the lantern body is a domed, perforated and intricately patterned structure with geometric and floral openwork, showing metallic tones of brass and bronze with areas of darker patina and hints of copper; a circular rim supports a few short cylindrical pendants with pierced patterns beneath the dome; the background is a plain neutral gray.
