Lamp, Islamic art, Arabic, metal lighting fixture with geometric ornament and Arabic inscriptions. Cover decorated with a star motif. Disc base with seven holes for glass sleeves glass oil containers missing. 19th–20th century, Damascus, Syria. Lamp; height 40 cm, diameter 32 cm, weight 2.4 kg., A suspended decorative metal lantern with a domed, intricately pierced body hangs from three linked chains converging at a single hook; the chains and lantern are predominantly brass-colored with darker aged patina. The dome surface shows ornate geometric and curvilinear cutwork arranged in repeating patterns, with visible areas of sheen and shadow creating contrast between brighter golden highlights and deeper brownish tones. The top has a small finial with decorative openwork in the same brass color, and a patterned band encircles the base of the dome. Below the band, a ring of cylindrical perforated pendants hangs, showing a mix of brass and warmer reddish-brown metal hues, and the overall background is a smooth neutral gray.
