Jug aftabe, 19th century North Caucasus; Islamic art; aftabe water jug; vessel; height 30.0 cm, length 14.8 cm, diameter 12.0 cm, A single metallic vessel with a tall narrow neck rising from a rounded body and flared base is centered against a light gray background; the surface of the object shows a worn, textured finish in shades of silver and gray with darker patches and subtle hints of brownish tarnish; a straight, vertical handle runs from the top of the neck down the front of the body and appears slightly darker with thin lines of brown accent; the rounded body has vertical fluted ridges and a small decorative shield-shaped element where the handle meets the body; the flared pedestal base features concentric horizontal bands and a scalloped edge, and the entire piece is reflected faintly on the smooth surface beneath it.
