Ganesha, unknown sculptor. 19th century, India. Sculpture height 26.0 cm, width 17.5 cm. The deity sits on a double lotus throne placed on a rectangular flat base; the whole is mounted on a large, strongly profiled pedestal. At the back of the figure is a circle of fire. The figurine consists of three parts: a statuette inserted onto a pedestal and a fire ring inserted into the pedestal holes using two pins. Iconography/features: Indian/Hindu art; elephants, ropes, halos, lotus throne, birds, gluttony, rats, fire, Shaivism, crowns/tiaras, tusks, mounts, armor., A small sculpture of an elephant-headed figure seated on a rounded pedestal attached to a tiered rectangular base, with an ornate upright backplate behind it; the figure and base show a metallic brown tone while the base, backplate, and decorative details are gilded gold, and the background is light gray.
