Oval tsuba tatemaru gata, with a slightly rounded and raised edge of the uchi kaeshi type, seppa dai oval. Decorated on both sides with a relief motif of Chinese coins, details highlighted with gold inlay using the nunome zôgan technique. 1st half of the 18th century Edo period, Japan. Tsuba; height 8.7 cm, width 7.9 cm, depth 0.3 cm., A round metallic object rests against a plain light gray background, appearing dark brown with areas of lighter brown and small patches of rusty orange. The object has a smooth rim and several openings and raised details, including a rounded central opening and another irregular opening nearby. A segment features a circular motif with a thin ring of gold-colored metal. The surface shows a textured, slightly worn patina with subtle highlights of gray on raised edges. The overall tones visible are dark brown, light brown, rusty orange, gold, and gray.
