Vase, Vase with a thick neck, parted towards the spout. Cloisonné enamel on copper; the spout and foot are enclosed by brass rings. Decorated with doves, flowers lilies, chrysanthemums, sakura, wolfberries, butterflies, dragonflies, kachôga-style bird-and-flower imagery. Japanese, Meiji period, ca. 1870–1880; Nagoya. Vessel. Height 26.5 cm; width 15.5 cm., A rounded vase with a flared rim stands against a plain neutral background, its surface dominated by a bright turquoise-blue field decorated with a stylized white bird with detailed feathering, surrounded by a profusion of floral motifs and leafy vines in red, pink, green, dark blue, and black; the neck and shoulder feature a contrasting band of ornate patterns in red, black, and gold tones with swirling floral and geometric elements, and the base is edged with a narrow metallic rim and a patterned border in brown and gold; the glossy finish produces a subtle reflection of the vase on the surface beneath it.
