Fragment of the head of a terracotta female figurine. Fragmentarily preserved head depicting a woman: face and upper part of the neck. Narrow, open mouth with wide lips; large eyelids giving the eyes a half-closed appearance; fairly wide nose. Hairstyle unpreserved. Made of fairly poor quality clay with minor cracks especially on the neck and chin and visible grains; surface slightly effaced. Hellenistic or Roman period, Egypt, 323 BC–476 AD. Figurine; height 3.6 cm, width 3.0 cm, depth 2.3 cm., A worn sculpted head fragment in shades of brown and reddish-brown rests against a light gray background; the fragment shows an abstracted human face with closed or partially closed eyes, a nose, and a slightly open mouth, and the surface displays rough, pitted texture with areas of darker and lighter brown.
