Hexagonal matrix for imprinting terracotta decorations, 1st–3rd century; Roman period, Tell Atrib, form, height 15.8 cm, width 15.3 cm, depth 12 cm, A roughly rectangular carved stone fragment rests against a pale bluish-gray background, showing the carved outline of an animal in low relief. The stone surface is mottled in shades of beige, tan, light brown, and darker brown spots with some grayish areas. The carved animal form displays a rounded head with a curved horn-like detail and a pronounced eye area, a short neck, a body with a suggestion of a mane or ridge of leaf-shaped markings along the back, and sturdy legs angled downward. The carving shows tool marks and weathered pits, and the stone edges are irregular and chipped, with smoothed and rough textures across its surface. The overall tones visible include beige, tan, brown, gray, and hints of darker brown.
