Lamp, repossession Zabkowice Slaskie, Egypt, Coptic art, antiquity, oil lamps, Middle Ages. Oval lamp made of yellow-gray clay with a high container and two handles, through which a bronze chain is strung for hanging the lamp. The high, sloping arms are decorated with a plastic ornament of a rectangular mesh. A channel running perpendicularly through the arms from the handle reaches the wick hole and surrounds it, creating a high rim. 5th/6th century, Egypt, oil lamp, height 10 cm, width 7.1 cm, An off-white to beige clay oil lamp with a textured, grid-like pattern on its top surface and a rounded, hollow nozzle sits against a gray background, showing areas of darker brown and tan discoloration and surface pitting; a dark greenish-gray metal chain with verdigris and darker brown spots is looped through a hole at the lamp’s rear and extends outward ending in a twisted, hook-like metal piece with a greenish patina.
