Lamp, Oval lamp made of yellow-gray clay with a high container and two handles, through which a bronze chain is strung for hanging the lamp. The high, sloping arms are decorated with a plastic ornament of a rectangular mesh. A channel running perpendicularly through the arms from the handle reaches the wick hole and surrounds it, creating a high rim. Coptic, Egypt, 5th–6th century. Oil lamp; height 10 cm, width 7.1 cm., A weathered, beige stone object with a rough, pitted surface sits centered against a flat gray background; the object has a symmetrical, angular form with a pointed top and a broader, faceted midsection that tapers to a narrower base, showing variations in beige, tan, light brown, and small darker brown spots and streaks, with irregular indentations and textured patches across its surface.
