Lamp, Oval lamp made of yellow-gray clay with a high container and two handles, through which a bronze chain is strung for hanging the lamp. The high, sloping arms are decorated with a plastic ornament of a rectangular mesh. A channel running perpendicularly through the arms from the handle reaches the wick hole and surrounds it, creating a high rim. Oil lamp, Coptic art, Egypt, 5th–6th century, antiquity/Middle Ages, height 10 cm, width 7.1 cm., A worn, irregularly shaped object hangs against a plain gray background, showing a rough textured surface with carved or pitted indentations; the object is mostly tan and beige with areas of light brown, gray, and subtle darker brown speckles, and a small metal ring threaded through a hole at the top that appears dark gray to black.
