Pilgrim's bottle, Islamic art, Arabic culture, Islam, Ayyubid dynasty 1171–1341. Geometric ornament. The belly is widened at the arms, which merge into a cylindrical, slightly convex neck with a narrow opening. One wall has a star motif with a rosette in the middle and a palmette; the other and the side arms feature a honeycomb motif. Violet manganese glass. 12th–13th century. Syria?, Egypt?, Middle East?. Vessel. Height 11.8 cm; width 9.1 cm; depth 4.2 cm., A smooth elongated oval object with a rounded top and bottom, dark black in color with areas of worn lighter gray and brownish abrasion, featuring a small round depressed area with rough texture near the upper middle, a narrow vertical pale strip of worn material below that depression, and a few spots of red paint on the surface; the background is a uniform pale gray.
