Oil lamp, unknown Palestinian workshop. Islamic art, Arabic culture. Oval lamp with conical handle. Large olive opening occupying virtually the entire surface of the disc. Arms decorated with branches. Burner channel and wick opening bounded by a convex shaft; channel decorated with a six-leafed palm branch, interpreted in the context of Byzantine Jerusalem workshops as a schematic representation of a menorah. Oval, ring-shaped base decorated in the center with a six-pointed star Magen David, known in Arab-Muslim culture as the Seal of Solomon. Outside the ring-shaped base are three symmetrically spread palm branches interpreted as menorahs. The entire lamp is impressed into the mold. 7th–8th century, Syro-Palestine. Oil lamp; height 3.4 cm, length 10.8 cm, width 6.9 cm., A small, worn object with an angular, rounded shape sits centered on a smooth reflective surface, showing a mirrored reflection beneath it; the object appears textured and uneven with rough edges and a shallow central depression, and its colors include beige, tan, brown, and patches of darker grayish-black, set against a plain light gray background.
