Terracotta gladiator figurine, unknown Southern Italian workshop, terracotta, male figurine. Figure of a gladiator ready for battle on a high base. Legs wide apart, left leg bent, right leg straight. On the calves are greaves reaching above the knees. In his right, bent hand he holds a dagger, and in the other a four-sided shield. He is dressed in a short draped tunic and wears a helmet. The Latin inscription PACILI is visible on the reverse of the base. Preservation condition: part of the base filled with plaster, partial shield and back of the head broken off, reflections, cracks. 2nd–1st century BC, Southern Italy, figurine; height 13 cm, width 7 cm., A weathered stone figurine of a human-like figure standing on a rectangular base, shown against a solid gray background; the figure wears a hood and has a rounded head with faint facial features, a sloped shoulder and an arm bent across the torso, and a curved object or draped element over one shoulder; the surface is rough and pitted with visible chips and cracks, and the visible colors are beige, light tan, off-white, and hints of gray.
