Scarab - a forgery? Scarab with a pseudo-inscription on the underside of the base. Traces of red dye visible on the surface of the wings. Probably a forgery. Contemporary product, Egypt. Scarab amulet. Height 1.2 cm; width 2.5 cm., An oval carved object resembling an insect form sits against a gray background; the object has a weathered, ivory-beige surface with darker brown hairline cracks and carved grooves defining segmented shapes, and several areas of worn red pigment on the lower central surface, with subtle variations of tan, cream, brown, and faded red across its textured surface.
