Description: The obverse presents iconography typical of Old Believers/Pop-Rites crosses: the crucified Christ, above him the Lord of Hosts blessing from the clouds, below him the dove of the Holy Spirit flanked by angels descending toward the Savior. The cross stands on symbolic Golgotha with a cave containing Adam’s skull and is shown against a symbolic representation of Jerusalem. On the reverse is an apotropaic prayer to the Holy Cross. 19th century, Russia. Medium: cross; height 36.5 cm, width 18.5 cm., A gold-colored metal cross with ornate relief carving depicting a central figure on the main horizontal arm and additional carved scenes above and below, showing a larger top section with a seated figure, winged creatures, and decorative motifs, a central crucified figure with outstretched arms and a halo, flanking circular faces near the arm ends, a stepped lower section with architectural and landscape elements and a reclining face near the bottom, all set against a plain light gray background.
