Shallow bowl with a rounded rim, inversely trapezoidal, parted walls, and a flat bottom. Pink kaolin ceramic mass Gempler IA with yellow, even surfaces. Decoration painted in red: a circumferential band on the rim and a central composition on the interior, bounded by three parallel circumferential bands midway up the wall. Central eight-pointed rosette motif of alternating long and short lines, each ending with a geometric flower in the form of an oval filled with intersecting lines. Painted Coptic/Nubian-style vessel, 8th–9th century, from Edfu. Vessel bowl; height 3.2 cm; diameter 16 cm rim, 6.4 cm base. Maker/place of origin: unknown Aswan workshop. Materials: kaolin clay; painted ceramic., A fragment of pottery with a tan base and reddish-brown painted decoration sits against a smooth gray background. The pottery shard shows a curved rim with a few concentric reddish-brown bands and a painted central motif consisting of intersecting lines and four petal-like shapes in the same reddish-brown color. The exposed clay edge is a slightly darker tan with some rough texture.
