In the foreground a woman wearing a teal-blue cloak and a gold halo kneels with hands raised toward a small infant lying on a cloth, the infant also shown with a gold halo. Nearby a seated figure in a red robe and head covering leans forward with arms crossed and a stick, a small fire with orange and red flames is beside them. To the left a wooden feeding trough and a donkey head are visible, and above the roof a group of sheep in shades of gray and white rest on a dark brown ledge. On the right, a group of three standing figures in red, green, and darker clothing look toward the scene, and a pale head appears floating near them. The background behind the stable is a bright gold color with faint decorative patterning. The frame and inner border are gilded, showing worn texture and small dotted decorations.
