The carvings depict groups of people in expressive poses, some seated and some standing, arranged in scenes with arches, columns, a ladder, and a well or circular feature. The surface colors include gold on the frame and background, with brown and darker brown tones on the carved figures and architectural details, and subtle touches of red and muted green on some garments. The overall composition is symmetrical with ornate moulding separating the panels and a continuous decorative band around the edges.
