Origin/place: Wroclaw St. Elizabeth's Church, altar., A large multi-paneled altarpiece with hinged wings is shown against a dark background, the central interior painted and gilded in gold with carved wooden figures in gold and dark tones arranged within ornate architectural frames; the central scene features a seated figure flanked by winged and standing figures, all rendered in gold with dark brown and black detailing, surrounded by intricate carved tracery. The open side panels display painted narrative scenes with groups of figures wearing robes in red, green, black, and purple against gold backgrounds, and the inner wing edges show small carved niches with miniature figures in gold and darker pigments. Above the central compartment is a carved group of crowned and robed figures in gold and muted flesh tones, and below the main section a lower row contains a series of small painted and carved figures set against a blue ground with gold highlights.
