Subjects: churches iconography, Jesus Christ Bible, Mandylion iconography, nimbus iconography, temples. Description: The icon shows the holy monk standing on the right in a gesture of prayer. On the left in the background are visible monastery buildings, and above them upper left an image of Acheiropoietos. The icon is quite schematic, in a manner characteristic of so-called poor icons. The saint's name is inscribed on his nimbus. Inscriptions workshop notes are engraved on the reverse of the icon. Date: 2nd half 19th century. Place: Russia. Medium: icon. Dimensions: height 35.8 cm; width 30.5 cm., A painted panel showing a standing robed figure with a halo, wearing dark outer robes and a yellow inner garment with red accents, extending an arm toward a small architectural group to the left; the architecture is rendered in muted greenish-gray with domed elements and arched openings. The background behind the figure and buildings is a textured warm brown with mottled darker marks, while the lower area in front of them is a deep brown plane. The panel is framed by a broad brown border with thin inner and outer bands in darker green and red, and the visible color palette includes brown, dark gray, greenish-gray, black, yellow, red, and hints of gold.
