The obverse shows Christ crucified on Golgotha. Below the cross in the grotto are Adam's skull and the tree of Seth; at the level of the footstool is a view of Jerusalem; on the crossbar are symbols of the sun and moon; in the upper part above the cross is the Mandylion and two angels descending toward Christ. The relief is decorative and very carefully crafted. The set of inscriptions and the font are typical of Bezpopovtsy Old Believer crosses. On the reverse is an engraved plant ornament typical of the Pomeranian environment. 19th century, Northern Russia; cross, height 38.5 cm, width 20.2 cm., A decorative object in the shape of a stepped cross with a raised border and recessed central panels fills the image; the surface shows an intricate floral and foliate pattern in relief. The object appears metallic with a golden color showing subtle variations of darker and lighter gold tones. The background is a uniform light gray.
