Head of a woman, Female head, fragment of a larger figurine. The head is tilted slightly to the right. The face is narrow, long. The straight nose forms a single plane with the forehead. Large almond-shaped eyes are deeply set; near the nose both eyelids are modeled. The arches of the eyebrows slope downward on the outside. The forehead is triangular. The hair completely covers the ears, revealing only the earrings. The hair, parted in the middle, forms waves at the back and is combed upwards, creating curls on the crown. The hair is held in a wide ribbon that, when worn from the back, runs to the front, crosses back and is tied. The polychrome is well preserved: the face is white with pink tones and traces of red on the lips; the hair is brown and the scarf white and blue. 4th century BC, Tanagra Greece. Terracotta figurine; height 13 cm, width 7 cm, depth 9.5 cm, weight 0.31 kg., An oval-shaped sculpted object viewed from above showing textured, irregular surfaces with carved, wavy patterns and layered ridges; the object has a weathered appearance with predominant terracotta and brown tones, areas of pale beige and off-white, and hints of muted blue-green; shadows and subtle highlights reveal depth and creases in the carved forms against a plain light gray background.
