Head of a woman. Female head, fragment of a larger figurine. The head is tilted slightly to the right. The face is narrow, long. The straight nose forms a single plane with the forehead. The large, almond-shaped eyes are deeply set; near the nose, they have modeled both eyelids. The arches of the eyebrows slope downward on the outside. The forehead is triangular. The hair completely covers the ears, revealing only the earrings. The hair, parted in the middle, forms waves at the back and is combed upwards, creating curls on the crown. The hair is held in a wide ribbon, which, when worn from the back, runs to the front, where it crosses back and is tied. The polychrome is perfectly preserved: face white with strong pink tones and traces of red on the lips; hair brown; scarf white and blue. 4th century BC, Tanagra Greece. Figurine. Height 13 cm, width 7 cm, depth 9.5 cm, weight 0.31 kg., A weathered sculpted head in profile facing right, showing worn carved hair and a draped head covering gathered at the back; the surface has a mix of earthy brown, terracotta, off-white, pale gray, and small areas of muted blue and yellow, with visible spots of darker brown and reddish discoloration; the facial features are rounded and eroded, the ear is partially visible with a small yellow detail beneath it, and the base of the neck shows rough, chipped edges and traces of the same mixed colors.
