Black-finned skyphos, early 4th century BC, Attica; thick-walled variety with two handles, deep bowl on a low profiled foot. Interior: stamped ornament with six palmettes; inside the circle two concentric circles with ovules between them; surrounded by a band of ovules between two engraved lines. Outer part of the vessel's foot decorated with concentric circular elements. Technology: varnish evenly distributed, matte; visible turning marks. Admixtures: mica, pyroxene. Clay color 2.5 YR 6/6 light red. Varnish color 10 YR 2/1 black. Vessel skyphos: height 10.4 cm, width 23.5 cm, depth 16.6 cm, weight 0.456 kg, foot diameter 8.2 cm., A ceramic bowl with a rounded body and a flared rim shown against a neutral background, finished in a glossy black surface with a few small worn spots revealing a lighter color beneath; the bowl has a pedestal base and a pair of curved handles that extend outward and curl at the ends, also black with some scuffed areas, and the interior is smooth and black with subtle highlights from lighting.
