Red-figure aryballus lekythos with a scene of Aphrodite's toilet, On the belly: Aphrodite crouching and Eros handing her an alabastron; Eros mythology, Aphrodite mythology, Greek deities; beginning of the 4th century BC previously dated to the 2nd quarter of the 4th century BC; findspot Nola, origin Campania; vessel, lekythos aryballus lekythos; height 16.5 cm, width 19.5 cm, weight 0.23 kg., An oval-shaped ceramic vessel with a narrow neck and flared mouth, featuring a single curved handle connecting the shoulder to the neck; the surface is predominantly black with areas of natural clay orange exposed in decorative motifs, including flowing spiral and leaf-like patterns around the body and banded ornamentation near the mouth and base; the vessel shows small areas of surface wear where the black coating has flaked, revealing the orange beneath, and the base has an uneven, slightly worn rim with traces of residue; overall the colors visible are black and orange.
