Sarcophagus of the gatekeeper of the temple of Amun Panepi, Panepy ca. 945–715 BC. Sacrificial formulas, necklace iconographic, wig iconographic, mummy straps iconographic, Nut mythological, hieroglyphs, grave goods, sculptured head. A small face with full cheeks painted red. Large eyes with black pupils and white irises. A green wig covering the ears frames the face. A loincloth above the forehead. On the chest is a large useh necklace consisting of nine stripes. On the legs is a vertical strip of the Sacrificial Formula. On the bottom of the chest is an image of Nut marked with a black outline. c. 825–715 BC; Third Intermediate Period, late 22nd Dynasty, Western Thebes. Sarcophagus; height 187 cm, width 49 cm, depth 51 cm., A tall, vertical wooden object with a tapered, coffin-like shape shown against a plain gray background, the wood surface displaying a range of brown tones from dark brown to lighter, warm brown with visible wood grain patterns, knots, and irregular streaks; there are several pale, beige areas of wear or residue and a few dark stains and scratches across the surface, with edges that appear slightly rounded and worn and an overall weathered, aged appearance.
