Canopic box, Sons of Horus mythology, falcons, jackals, Isis mythology, Nephthys mythology; grave goods, Egyptian deities; ca. 747–656 BC, Third Intermediate Period, 25th Dynasty, Egypt; canopic box; height 28.5 cm, width 22 cm, depth 29 cm., A rectangular object with a worn surface covered in a repeating diagonal grid pattern; the background is a reddish-brown and the grid lines are dark gray to black, with areas of scuffing and surface wear revealing lighter brown and tan underlayers; the edges show signs of abrasion and small chips, and there are a few small circular impressions near the right edge; the surface has several hairline cracks and irregular patches of loss where the top layer is rubbed away.
