The front panel features a painted figure in profile wearing a long red garment and a headdress, with skin tones in a yellowish-ochre and hair in a darker brown. The background of the panel is an off-white or cream color with visible wood grain and areas of distress, and there are narrow bands of faded blue and yellow near the top and along the bottom edge. The lid appears dark brown to black, and the lower edge of the box shows areas of exposed wood in a light tan color.
