Figurine of the goddess Toeris in the form of a pregnant hippopotamus standing on lion legs and equipped with a crocodile tail. A stand under the legs, a pendant on the back. 664–332 BC; Late Period, Egypt. Amulet; height 5 cm, width 1.5 cm., A small statuette of a standing anthropomorphic lion figure rendered in a pale green-blue glazed material, showing a mane with vertical grooves, a snarling open mouth, and a defined nose and eyes; the figure’s arms hang down along its sides and it stands on a rectangular base. The surface shows areas of darker green and brown discoloration and a patch of reddish-brown staining near the lower front. The background is a smooth mid-gray that transitions to a lighter gray toward the bottom.
