Flat round New Year’s canteen with a narrow short neck ending in a chipped spout shaped like a papyrus capital, decorated on both sides with plastic figurines of crouching baboons elbows on knees, paws supporting the muzzle. A floral necklace is depicted in relief on both sides of the neck, and a hieroglyphic text runs along the narrow sides. Faience vessel, 664–525 BC; Late Period, 26th Dynasty, Egypt. Height 17.5 cm plus 1.5 cm base, width 13.7 cm, weight 0.37 kg., A close-up of the upper portion of a rounded vessel with a flared neck and wide rim, showing a weathered surface in shades of green and turquoise with patches of pale brown and darker green patina, subtle speckling, and areas of erosion. A small sculpted attachment resembling a stylized human or figurative motif is visible at the base of the neck in the same green-turquoise material. The shoulder of the vessel displays concentric incised decorative bands and linear patterns following the curve, rendered in the same green and turquoise tones with occasional brownish discoloration, all set against a neutral dark gray background.
