New Year's canteen, Flat round faience canteen with a narrow short neck ending in a chipped spout shaped like a papyrus capital, decorated on both sides with modeled figurines of crouching baboons elbows on knees, paws supporting the muzzle. A floral necklace is depicted in relief on both sides of the neck, and a hieroglyphic text runs along the narrow sides. Materials: faience. Function: vessel. Date: 664–525 BC, Late Period, 26th Dynasty, Egypt. Height 17.5 cm + 1.5 cm base, width 13.7 cm, weight 0.37 kg., A smooth, egg-shaped vessel in a pale green color stands upright against a neutral gray background, with a flared neck and lip in a slightly darker green; the body shows a vertical band of shallow incised lines running from neck to base and a faint pattern of small dotted spots and subtle discoloration in greens and brownish tones, and a small projection near the neck where the band meets the rim.
