New Year's canteen, Goluchów Greater Poland Voivodeship. Flat round faience canteen with a narrow short neck ending in a chipped spout shaped like a papyrus capital. Decorated on both sides with modeled figurines of crouching baboons, elbows on knees and paws supporting the muzzle. A floral necklace is depicted in relief on both sides of the neck, and a hieroglyphic text runs along the narrow sides. Materials: faience. Function: ritual vessel/bottle. Date: 664–525 BC; Late Period, 26th Dynasty, Egypt. Height 17.5 cm +1.5 cm base; width 13.7 cm; weight 0.37 kg., A round vessel with a flattened spherical body and a short flaring neck set against a plain dark gray background, the vessel displaying a weathered greenish-blue patina with areas of darker green and small brownish spots; a band of incised geometric patterns decorates the upper shoulder just below the neck, and a pair of small sculpted humanlike figures flank the neck where it meets the body; the vessel rests on a clear stand that is partially visible at the bottom.
