Short black hair in curls on the forehead and temples; sideburns. Black uniform with high red collar and gold embroidery; gold epaulettes; red ribbon of the Order of St. Anne, 1st class, and the Orders of St. George, 4th class, and St. Vladimir, 2nd class. Background: dark olive-gray clouds; at the bottom left, a fragment of a cannon barrel and a red flame. According to Elizaveta Solovtsov, the background alludes to the wars with Turkey in 1810. General's uniform circa 1808; the collar unbuttoned in this way was worn in the tsarist army until 1812. Binding: narrow oval bronze band. 1810. Miniature; height 9.0 cm, width 7.2 cm., An oval framed painting shows a portrait of a man from the chest up wearing a dark uniform with gold epaulettes and a wide red sash across his torso; his face has pale skin with rosy cheeks, dark curly hair, and sideburns, and he looks slightly to the side. The background is dark with muted browns and grays, and the frame is a worn gold color. There are a few metallic decorative elements on his chest that appear gold and silver. The overall palette includes black, red, gold, silver, pale flesh tones, brown, and gray.
