In the center stand two figures in armor with helmets and plumed crests, one wearing blue drapery and the other with a red sash, surrounded by attendants and onlookers. To the right a cluster of women and children in various gowns and headpieces kneel or sit, one woman reaching toward the central figures and another bending forward in a richly patterned yellow and blue dress. Behind them are several standing adults with varied expressions and head coverings. To the left are more figures including a seated man near an assortment of metallic vessels and decorative objects on the ground, and further back a group of helmeted soldiers and a tented encampment. The scene includes trees with green foliage, a blue drapery backdrop, and a palette featuring blues, greens, reds, yellows, whites, browns, and metallic gray tones.
